Gardena introduces the GARDENA smart SILENO sense robotic lawnmower without boundary wire as a new product.

The new GARDENA smart SILENO sense robotic lawnmowers with camera-supported AI navigation simplify lawn care and ensure precise mowing. Equipped with smart functions, the robotic lawnmowers assist in maintaining lawns of up to 600 square meters.

Thanks to camera-supported AI navigation, the installation of the new robotic lawnmowers is extremely convenient. Neither a boundary wire nor additional antennas or signal masts need to be installed in the garden. Automatic edge detection is carried out by the integrated camera and supplemented by satellite-based positional data. To ensure fast and precise detection of lawn edges and objects, the Vision AI is powered by an NVIDIA Jetson module – the world's leading company for advanced computing technologies.

Easy to install – without boundary wire

Commissioning the robotic lawnmower is extremely simple: the charging station is placed in the garden, then the connection and configuration are carried out via the free GARDENA smart App – either via the home Wi-Fi or the mobile network. Thanks to the integrated SIM card, a permanent mobile network connection is included free of charge. Using the app as a remote control, the mower is guided along the lawn edge during initial installation and familiarizes itself with the mowing area. After that, the robotic lawnmower learns daily, evaluates the current conditions in real-time, and reacts dynamically to changes in the garden.

Close-to-edge mowing

The smart SILENO sense recognizes different lawn edges such as flowerbeds, paving stones, walls, or fences and cuts precisely with the so-called Trim-to-Edge function. For this, the cutting deck is positioned at the rear of the mower. When the robotic lawnmower reaches a house wall or wall, the mower turns. This turning allows the robotic lawnmower to glide smoothly along the lawn edge and cut grass blades right up to the edge.

Reliable mowing with camera – obstacle detection

With the help of the integrated camera, the robotic lawnmower detects objects and can distinguish and classify them thanks to intelligent image processing. This way, the robotic lawnmower knows that it can mow over fallen leaves, while a branch lying on the lawn or a toy is recognized as an obstacle and bypassed. To protect data, all camera recordings are stored exclusively on the mower and cannot be accessed externally or via the cloud.

Adapted lawn care with LONA Intelligence and GARDENA-supported mode

With the help of localization and navigation technology (LONA), the mower orients itself to the conditions and adapts lawn care individually for the different areas. It maps the lawn area, which can be divided into zones in the smart app. Individual mowing frequencies can then be set for these different areas.

A garden grows and changes and is exposed to the weather. With the so-called GARDENA-supported mode, mowing schedules are automatically adjusted to the needs of the lawn based on weather data and growth patterns – completely without manual intervention.
