How often should blades be changed?
The frequency of blade replacement for robotic lawnmowers depends on several factors – particularly the lawn area, usage, and external conditions.
Generally, the blades should be changed every 1 to 3 months. In some cases – as also stated by Husqvarna – replacement may be necessary sooner or later.
Factors influencing blade lifespan:
- Lawn area:
The larger the area, the more frequent replacement is required. - Usage:
Frequent use leads to faster wear. - External conditions:
Stones, branches, or other obstacles on the lawn shorten blade life. - Weather:
Wet conditions and strong grass growth put additional strain on the blades.
How to tell if the blades should be changed:
- The cut is uneven, the grass tips appear frayed or turn brown.
- The robotic lawnmower becomes significantly louder when mowing – a sign of dull blades.
Replacement recommendation:
- Professional robotic lawnmowers: every 2 to 6 weeks
- Privately used models: every 1 to 3 months
- EdgeCut mowing discs: every 9 to 12 weeks
Additional tips for longer durability:
- Regularly remove foreign objects: Clear stones, branches, or leaves from the lawn.
- Adjust mowing frequency: Take breaks during wet weather or strong growth.
